Population Europe

Population Europe is the network of Europe’s leading research centres in the field of policy-relevant population studies. This unique knowledge pool disseminates the most relevant research findings to policy audiences and the public.

The network has established collaborations with a broad range of stakeholders interested in population developments.

Population Europe also has an extensive network of eminent population experts throughout Europe that are nomatined by the partner institutes. These experts support the activities of the network, for example, by participating in our various events and contributing to our publications.

Furthermore, Population Europe honours members of the partner institutes or other colleagues who were instrumental in setting-up our network as honorary members.

What does Population Europe do?

The network actively supports the projects of its partner institutes, but is also involved with its own activities. Our main objective is to help communicate the research conducted by the partners and share this knowledge through our Discussion Paper series, our Policy Briefs, and our PopDigests, which are short summaries of recently published research in a peer-reviewed journal. In addition to these publications, we are very active on social media and use both Twitter and Facebook to disseminate our work and reach a large audience.

Beginning in 2013, we began to broaden our efforts to bring demography to a more lay audience through the creation of the traveling exhibition "How to Get to 100 - and Enjoy It". This exhibition is now available as an app and in 2018, we published teaching materials that allow teachers to use the app in the classroom to educate their students about population change.

To help bring researchers into contact with the political, economic and societal communities, we organize face-to-face events and webinars with stakeholders from these sectors.
