Bonquois Postdoctoral Fellow in Women's History

The Bonquois Postdoctoral Fellow in Women's History is a full-time, twelve-month position (July 1, 2026-June 30, 2027) at the Newcomb Institute. The Bonquois Postdoctoral Fellow will be a historian whose research is intersectional and engages with the history of women and/or gender in the U.S. A research focus on 20th century women’s history in the Gulf South is preferred though not required.

The fellow will do their academic research, present their work at a public lecture, have regular mentoring meetings with the Newcomb Institute Director of Research, and join the interdisciplinary intellectual community at the Newcomb Institute and Tulane University. The fellow will work closely with one to two undergraduate research assistants, and engage with the Newcomb Archives to produce an exhibit or other public-facing product related to their work.

Qualifications

Required qualifications:

  1. Ph.D. in History, American Studies, or closely related field.
  2. Demonstrated research interests that take an historical and intersectional approach to gender, reflecting how race, class, sexual, ethnic, community, and national identities interact.

Preferred qualifications:

Research focus on 20th century women’s history in the Gulf South.
