A. D. Trendall Fellowship
The A. D. Trendall Fellowship was inaugurated in 2000. The Trendall Fellow is normally appointed in alternate years and the Fellowship is open to scholars from universities outside the UK. Preference will be given to applicants working in the same areas of interest as Professor Trendall, including ancient Italy and classical art history. The successful candidate is expected to spend a minimum of six weeks at the Institute. Applicants are invited to make a proposal for an event or training activity to be carried out at the ICS during their stay. Proposals for events or activities that engage with UK-based classical researchers and/or the national and international subject community are particularly welcome. Fellows receive an allowance of £5000 toward the cost of travel and accommodation.
A list of previous holders of the Trendall Fellowship is available here.
Following a period of suspension during the COVID-19 pandemic, applications are once again invited for this Fellowship for the academic year 2023-24.
Applicants are asked to complete the application form and to send it to the Director with a short CV (4 pages maximum). The deadline for applications will be 14th April. It is expected that results will be announced before the end of May. Successful candidates are encouraged to speak at events or participate in workshops elsewhere in the UK if invited, and some funds are available to make this possible.
