Research Associate exclusively with teaching duties in Assyriology

§ 28 Subsection 3 HmbHG

Your responsibilities

Duties consist solely of independent or supervised teaching. Teaching obligations are determined in accordance with current state regulations (Lehrverpflichtungsverordnung, LVVO). The LVVO permits the Office of the Dean to redefine the teaching obligation. Teaching duties currently comprise 12 teaching hours per semester.

The successful candidate will contribute to teaching the Assyriology study programme that is part of the Bachelor- and Master study programme in the department for the History and Culture of the Middle East – Assyriology. The duties include, for example:

conducting lectures/seminars/classes,
preparation and compiling of teaching materials,
selection and evaluation of literature for preparing lectures/classes,
consultation and advice with students for presentations and term papers in your own courses,
design and creation of exams for your own courses,
correcting exams and term papers for your own courses.

Your profile

A university degree in a relevant field.

A university degree in Assyriology or a comparable field with a very good grade/mark (equivalent to German mark 2 or better). Pedagogical skills and documentation for teaching experience in Assyriology are also required, including the teaching of language courses as well as history or cultural history courses. Experience with original manuscripts is also advantageous.
