T-AP is delighted to launch its third joint research call on Recovery, Renewal and Resilience in a Post-Pandemic World (RRR).
The COVID-19 pandemic is a major crisis that touches on all aspects of health, social, economic, political, and cultural life. The T-AP RRR call aims to address key gaps in our understanding of the dynamic and complex interaction of medium and long-term societal effects of COVID-19 pandemic. This understanding, in turn, should advance knowledge of how to mitigate the negative societal effects of COVID-19 pandemic and support recovery and renewal in a post-pandemic world.
ESSENTIAL INFORMATION
1. Introduction
The Trans-Atlantic Platform (T-AP) for Social Sciences and Humanities is an unprecedented collaboration between humanities and social science research funders from South America, North America and Europe. T-AP aims to enhance the ability of funders, research organizations and researchers to engage in transnational dialogue and collaboration. T-AP works to identify common challenges and promote a culture of collaboration in social science and humanities (SSH) research by offering joint research calls in areas of strong potential for international collaboration. The Platform facilitates the formation of networks within the social sciences and humanities and promotes interdisciplinarity. T-AP also strives to heighten awareness of the role the social sciences and humanities play in addressing 21st century challenges.
2. Funding organizations
This call is supported by selected funders from different countries (please see table of participating funding organizations below).The complete list of T-AP RRR funding organizations and their eligibility requirements can be found on page 2 of this Call and on the T- AP RRR website.
3. Research topics
The RRR Call emphasizes the following five main challenges related to COVID-19: (i) reducing inequalities and vulnerabilities; (ii) building a more resilient, inclusive and sustainable society; (iii)fostering democratic governance and political participation; (iv)advancing responsible and inclusive digital innovation; and (v)ensuring effective and accurate communication and media. A focus on these five challenges will leverage the SSH research to understand and address the complex societal effects of COVID-19 pandemic, and inform mitigation efforts, thus contributing to a more equitable, resilient and sustainable future. Key to the approach is the added value of new perspectives and insights generated by transnational and interdisciplinary collaborations.

5. Duration of projects
Each project should have a duration ranging between 24 and 36 months.
6. Eligibility requirements
6.1. Applicants must apply as a transnational research project partnership. Each project must: •comprise at least three eligible Principal Investigators from at least three different T-AP participating countries1 from both sides of the Atlantic;•designate one of the Principal Investigators as the project’s Lead Principal Investigator. If the project is requesting funds from more than one funding organization within the same country, only one Principal Investigator may be designated as the lead for that country.
