Shota Rustaveli National Science Foundation (Georgia) (SRNSF)

The Shota Rustaveli National Science Foundation is a Legal Entity of Public Law established by Presidential Decree 428 of June 16, 2010 to promote the progress of science by implementing new funding schemes in Georgian R&D sector. Governing Bodies of the Foundation are represented by the Science Board and the Director General.

To support sustainable development of the country S&T sector the Foundation implements diverse funding schemes and approaches which encompass: (i) competitive grants for long-term research projects provided through annual calls for proposals, (ii) personal grants (scholarships) for young scientists, (iii) travel grants to enlarge mobility of Georgian researchers and S&T policy makers.

The Foundation acts as the EU FPs coordinating NCP for Georgia and respectively participates in diverse type of FP funded projects as well as provides information-consultation services to local researchers and other stakeholders to encourage participation of Georgian researchers in FPs.

The Foundation is involved in the country innovation policy development to bridge the gaps between research and industry and facilitate growth of national economy. In line with that cooperative activities (including joint calls) will be implemented together with international funds and organisations (e.g. CRDF, STCU, etc.).
