Census Fellowship in the Reception of Antiquity Humboldt-Universität x Bibliotheca Hertziana x Warburg Institute Application deadline: January 31st, 2026 The Institut für Kunst- und Bildgeschichte, Humboldt-Universität zu Berlin, the Bibliotheca Hertziana – Max Planck Institute for Art History, and the Warburg Institute, School of Advanced Study, University of London, are pleased to announce a fellowship in Berlin, Rome, and London, offered at either the predoctoral or postdoctoral level.

BIBLIOTHECA HERTZIANA Curatorial Research Fellowships

The Bibliotheca Hertziana – Max Planck Institute for Art History in Rome offers Curatorial Research Fellowships with a duration of three months to museum curators for projects on Italian art history from Late Antiquity to the present day in the context of their respective museum activities (e.g. curatorial research for the preparation of an exhibition or the editing of an inventory catalogue). A correlation to the current research priorities of the Bibliotheca Hertziana is welcome.

CALAS-HIAS fellowship Hamburg/Kassel

The Maria Sibylla Merian Center for Advanced Latin American Studies in the Humanities and Social Sciences (CALAS) and the Hamburg Institute for Advanced Study (HIAS) invite outstanding scholars from Latin America and the Caribbean to undertake research projects for a total of six months—four months in Hamburg and two months at the University of Kassel, Germany.

Bourse Yavarhoussen (INHA)

Applicants must propose a research project that enriches the knowledge of the history of art in Madagascar. The fellowship can be used to partially fund ongoing research, but the submitted project can also take other forms: artist monograph, study of a body of work, or study of unknown or little-known archival or photographic collections. Applicants may also present a research topic on Malagasy heritage preserved in one or more museums in France, with a view to integrating the project “From Objects to Practices: Madagascar in French Public Collections,” led by the INHA.
