Wolfson College Non-Stipendiary Research Fellowships in Humanities and Social Sciences

The College proposes to elect up to twelve non-stipendiary Research and Junior Research Fellows in Humanities and Social Sciences, if candidates of sufficient merit present themselves, without limitation of subject, from 1 October 2026. Candidates must hold a doctorate.  Candidates who have received a doctorate over five years and (other than in exceptional situations) under ten years before that date will be eligible for a Research Fellowship; most candidates, who have received a doctorate less than five years before that date, will be eligible for a Junio

HISTORISCHES KOLLEG Consolidator Fellowships

The Historisches Kolleg invites applications for a Consolidator Fellowship for the 47th Kolleg year (1 October 2026-30 September 2027) aimed at applicants from the Global South, especially Africa.

With the Consolidator Fellowship Global South, the Kolleg aims to promote international exchange and help counteract global inequality of opportunity in academia. The additional funding required is provided by the Bavarian Academy of Sciences and Humanities (BAdW).

Historisches Kolleg Advanced Fellowships

As an Advanced Fellow, you will spend a full year (October 1 to September 30 of the following year) at the Historisches Kolleg in Munich. The fellowship offers you an atmosphere of concentrated tranquility in which you will have the opportunity to complete a book project.

What we offer

The aim of the fellowship is to complete a major book project. The Advanced Fellowship allows you to take leave from your university or research institution by covering the costs of a replacement.

Theodor Fischer Award

The Association of Friends of the Zentralinstitut für Kunstgeschichte, Munich (CONIVNCTA FLORESCIT), offers an annual award for early career research in the field of the history of architecture. The purpose of this award, named after the architect Theodor Fischer (1862-1938), is to encourage younger scholars to bring the results of their work to the attention of a broader public.

Wolfgang Ratjen Award

Award for Early Career Research in the Graphic Arts.

The Wolfgang Ratjen Award is an annual award for early career research in the field of graphic arts. The prize, funded by the Foundation Wolfgang Ratjen, is curated and presented by CONIVNCTA FLORESCIT Friends of the Zentralinstitut für Kunstgeschichte.

The purpose of this award, which honours the memory of the collector Wolfgang Ratjen (1943-1997), is to encourage younger scholars to address neglected topics and to bring the results of their work to the attention of a broader public.

Willibald Sauerländer Award

The Willibald Sauerländer Award honours and supports early career research in the history of art history. The prize, funded by CONIVNCTA FLORESCIT Friends of the Zentralinstitut für Kunstgeschichte, honours the memory of Willibald Sauerländer (1924–2018), from 1970 to 1989 director of the Zentralinstitut für Kunstgeschichte and an honorary professor at Ludwig-Maximilians-Universität Munich.
