With the Marie Skłodowska-Curie FRIAS COFUND Fellowship Programme about 15 fellows per year (juniors and seniors) from all disciplines are given the opportunity of spending three to twelve months working on their own research project at the Freiburg Institute for Advanced Studies (FRIAS), the international research college of the University of Freiburg.

IIAS invites outstanding scholars to apply for a fellowship at IIAS. Applicants may also apply for an extra two months of research at the Fondation Maison des sciences de l’homme (FMSH) in Paris, in the framework of an additional combined IIAS/FMSH fellowship.
After a successful thirty-year program and 447 awarded fellowships, the Abe Fellowship Program will no longer be accepting applications. The CGP and the SSRC will work together to ensure the legacy of this program and that Abe Fellows will have the opportunity to form international collaborations in the future. The George F. Kennan Fellowships were established in 2015 with the goal of supporting experts from diverse, policy-oriented sectors such as media, business, local government, law, civil society, and academia to examine important political, social, economic, cultural, and historical issues in Russia, Ukraine, and the region. Among the aims of the new fellowships are to build bridges between traditional academia and the policy world, as well as to maintain and increase collaboration among researchers from Russia, Ukraine, the US, and beyond.
Ever since the Peace Research Grants Fund was created in 2002, IPRAF has awarded grants to help fund peace research projects in places as diverse as Argentina, Bosnia, inner city communities in the United States, the Middle East, the Philippines, the Punjab, and Uganda.
