Forte Visiting Researcher Grants on Health, Working Life and Welfare

The purpose of the grant is to facilitate international contact networks and an exchange of experience between Swedish and overseas researchers, transfer knowledge from the international research community to Swedish research environments, as well as contributing to the dissemination of Swedish research abroad.

The grant is intended to fund shorter stays for research collaboration, exchange of experience as well as consultations. It needs to be evident in the application how the grant will strengthen the research or research environment in question. Visiting researchers must hold a PhD-degree.

There are two versions of the grant – incoming and outgoing. The grant is open for researchers working at institutions outside of Sweden wishing to visit Sweden (incoming researchers) as well as for researchers working at Swedish research institutions wishing to travel abroad (outgoing researchers).

You apply for the grants using different application forms in Prisma.

No participating researchers are allowed in this call.

Incoming

The grant is only open for researchers working at research institutions outside of Sweden. The Swedish host institution, and specifically the person responsible for the visiting researcher’s stay in Sweden, applies for the grant from Forte. Applicants must hold a PhD and represents the visiting researcher in all contacts with Forte. Applicants must open an account in Prisma and add their research education (PhD) to their CV in Prisma.

The visiting researcher is not a participating researcher in the application, i.e. does not need to open an account in Prisma. Information about the visiting researcher’s merits and publications are instead uploaded as PDF’s in the application form.

Outgoing

The applicant is the visiting researcher herself/himself and must be active at a Swedish research institution and hold a PhD. Applicants must open an account in Prisma and add their research education (PhD) to their CV in Prisma. Applicants represent themselves in all contacts with Forte.

Terms and conditions for Visiting Researcher Grants

The grant can cover costs for wages including social fees and remuneration, international and domestic travel and housing costs. However, the grant does not cover direct research costs. Grants are awarded in accordance to the level of costs in the host country. The maximum amount granted is SEK 500 000.

Granted funds can only be used until December 31, 2019.

Stays for visiting researchers are funded for a minimum of one month and a maximum of six months.

Assessment criteria for Visiting Researcher Grants

  • Relevance to Forte’s areas of responsibility
  • Scientific quality of the research relevant for the visit
  • The merits and competence of the visiting researcher
  • The expected value for the research area and for the partners involved

Eligibility

Eligible applicants are researchers holding a PhD associated with an approved administrative organisation in Prisma.

Number of applications

A maximum of one application per main applicant and grant type is allowed.

Assessment

Applications within this call for applications are assessed by a review panel.

The applications are assessed based on the assessment criteria listed under each grant type above.

Time plan

The deadline for submitting an application in Prisma is at 2 pm on 22 August 2018.

Final decisions will be made in October/November 2018.
