Dr. Eli Reinhard Post-Doctoral Fellowship in Jewish Studies
The core mission of the Taube Center for Jewish Studies is to promote scholarship in Jewish Studies, a mission that includes welcoming scholars at all stages of their careers with expertise in various aspects of Jewish Studies. The Center seeks to provide a supportive context for scholars seeking to do Jewish Studies-related research at Stanford and advancing their careers.
Overview
The Taube Center for Jewish Studies at Stanford University invites qualified candidates to apply to the Eli Reinhard Postdoctoral Fellowship. The Reinhard Fellow will be appointed for one academic year, beginning in the Fall of 2026.
We welcome applications from scholars in all fields of Jewish Studies, including but not limited to Religious Studies, Israeli and Jewish theater, literature, art, and culture, Jewish philosophy, and Jewish history from any period.
The Fellowship will provide a minimum annual salary of $77,000, and includes benefits. This is a full-time position, housed in the Taube Center for Jewish Studies. The Fellow will be expected to be in residence at Stanford, and to be an active participant in the Center's scholarly community. This includes teaching one course, participating in the Center’s events and colloquia, and presenting a public lecture or workshop on their research in progress. teaching one undergraduate course. The Fellow may not undertake any other sustained employment for the duration of their postdoctoral appointment.
Applicants must have earned their PhD within the past 3 years. Advanced doctoral students applying must include a statement from their dissertation advisor confirming that the Ph.D. will be conferred by July 1, 2026.

- Preference will be given to candidates who have not previously held another post-doctoral appointment.

- A letter of intent stating how the applicant would use the fellowship period to further their research and scholarly publication (not to exceed 5 pages);
- A current CV;
- A writing sample, not to exceed 20 pages;
- An official transcript from the applicant's doctoral-granting institution;
- Names and contact information of three recommenders;
