Danish Institute for Advanced Study (DIAS) brings excellent researchers together at the University of Southern Denmark to set the framework for interdisciplinary research.
About DIAS
We offer an extensive programme of highly prestigious lectures and we aim to inspire groundbreaking ideas through the meeting of minds within all disciplines.
DIAS includes chairs and senior fellows from all five faculties at the University of Southern Denmark and a number of external chairs from the University of Copenhagen; extraordinary scholars with impressive curriculum vitaes.
We believe that our DIAS Fellows are the most significant part of our DIAS core; we are proud of them and we have the highest aspirations for our DIAS Fellows.
History
The Danish Institute for Advanced Study opened in its current form with chairs from all five faculties in 2016. At this time Professor Torben Thorbjørn Knudsen and Professor Francesco Sannino are Directors
In 2017 the first DIAS Fellow began his fellowship. In March 2020 the DIAS House opened for all affiliates with the first floor lent out to the eScience Centre and SDU Climate Cluster.
Mission
DIAS brings outstanding researchers together in an interdisciplinary center for fundamental research and intellectual fora. We exist to encourage and support curiosity-driven research, and thereby unlock new revolutionary ideas.
Vision
DIAS aims to be a centre that gifted researchers strive to be a part of due to the creative, interdisciplinary co-operation, possibilities for development of research and growth of a national and international research network.
Strategic goals until 2025
Attract talented, highly qualified fellows worldwide and within all disciplines through active search and by securing funding .
Foster an increased commitment to engage and support the development of DIAS assistant professors, post. doc´s, Ph.d.´s and students by fostering a sense of community and affiliation with DIAS in the DIAS house and beyond.
Develop and implement a comprehensive fundraising strategy to support strategic goals and ensure long-term financial sustainability of DIAS research.
Catalyze interdisciplinary research by engaging the DIAS community around two or three strategic focus areas, e.g. the Sustainable Development Goals.
