Inaugurated in the 1999-2000 academic year, the Postdoctoral Associates Program at the Council on East Asian Studies provides promising scholars specializing in East Asia two years at Yale University in which they can prepare their dissertations for publication, pursue research projects, gain experience teaching advanced seminars to undergraduates, and utilize Yale’s resources. Proposals with single region or transregional emphasis on China, Japan, and/or Korea are welcome.

The Botstiber Institute for Austrian-American Studies (BIAAS) and the Austrian-American Educational Commission (AAEC) / Fulbright Austria jointly established two Fulbright-Botstiber Visiting Professors of Austrian-American Studies.

A Fulbright-Botstiber award (approximately $20,000 for one academic semester) is offered annually to one Austrian scholar to be hosted by institutions in the United States, and an identical award is offered annually to one American scholar to be hosted by institutions in Austria.

The University of Michigan's Center for Armenian Studies (CAS) serves students, faculty, and the broader community by furthering the understanding of the history and culture of Armenian societies worldwide through pioneering research, innovative instruction, and a commitment to building partnerships on campus and beyond. Through its work in the United States and abroad, CAS strives to contribute to the scholarly analysis and understanding of the challenges the Armenian people have faced across the globe.

Consistent with the Clements Center’s mission areas of history, strategy, and statecraft, applicants from all disciplines whose research bears directly on foreign and defense policy, intelligence, or international security are welcome to apply.  However, strong preference will be given to applicants with a doctorate in history or whose research has a strong historical component of any era, from ancient to modern.

This residential fellowship supports a scholar who earned their Ph.D. at least one year before the start of the fellowship and whose research project explores the impact of technology on history. Applications for this fellowship should specify collections in The New York Historical’s Patricia D. Klingenstein Library that will be crucial to the research project. The ten-month fellowship will carry a stipend of $60,000, plus benefits; it begins September 9, 2026, and lasts through June 30, 2027.

The American Philosophical Society's Library & Museum in Philadelphia invites applications for short-term residential research fellowships. These funding opportunities provide 1- to 3- months of support for researchers in residence and are open to scholars in all fields who show a demonstrated need to use the Library & Museum’s collections for their project. Approximately 25-30 short-term fellowships are awarded each year.

New Europe College (NEC), an Institute for Advanced Study in Bucharest (Romania), launches the annual competition for the 2026-2027 Fellowships. Romanian and international postdoctoral scholars in the humanities and social sciences (all areas, including law and economics) are invited to apply. Around 25 fellowships are available across eight programmes.

Visiting senior fellowships provide scholars with two-month appointments to conduct full-time research in residence at the Center. Fellows receive an office in the National Gallery’s East Building as well as housing, subject to availability. They have access to the notable resources of the National Gallery, including its library and art collection, as well as those of greater Washington. Fellows participate in lectures, colloquia, and discussions with the Center’s vibrant community of scholars.
