The Massachusetts Historical Society and the Boston Athenaeum will award one Suzanne and Caleb Loring Fellowship on the Civil War, Its Origins, and Consequences annually. The recipient will conduct research for at least four weeks at each institution between 1 July 2026 and 30 June 2027. The Athenaeum’s Civil War collections are anchored by its holdings of Confederate states imprints, the largest in the nation, consisting of books, maps, broadsides, sheet music, government documental publications, and other materials organized according to the Parrish & Willingham bibliography.

The MHS awards at least 2 long-term MHS-NEH fellowships annually, for a minimum of 4 months and a maximum of 12 months. The NEH stipend is $5,000 per month in 2023-2024. The MHS provides a supplement to assist with professional and housing expenses. Applicants must have completed their professional training and be U.S. citizens or foreign nationals who have lived in the United States for at least three years immediately preceding the application deadline.

Two residential stipendiary fellowships are offered annually by the SRU for scholars who have completed a doctorate (or appropriate final degree) and who are undertaking research for publication in the arts of Africa, Oceania or the Americas. Advanced doctoral candidates may be considered in some circumstances.

Wolfsonian fellowships engage scholars and artists around the world with resources held in the museum's trust and with the possibilities contained in dedicated study and interpretation of the modern age. Working full-time at The Wolfsonian over the course of their residency, fellows seek deeper understanding about the past (in research fellowships) or imagine novel ways to activate historic ideas and imagery (in creative fellowships).

The Koç University – Stavros Niarchos Foundation, Center for Late Antique and Byzantine Studies (GABAM) and ANAMED joint fellowship will support post-doctoral scholars specializing in Byzantine Art History and Archaeology.

Support is intended for postdoctoral level researchers that address one or more of the Institute’s current Strategic Research Initiatives. Proposals may relate to all historical periods up to and including contemporary Türkiye.
