ABOUT THE PROGRAM

• Each year, approximately 20 scholars are invited to the Institute for residential fellowships.
• About half of those invited are working in the year's designated theme, half on other projects.
• The School welcomes applications from junior and senior scholars across a wide range of fields in the social sciences and related disciplines. 
• Members (as Institute fellows are known) have access to campus resources and facilities, including offices, libraries, subsidized dining services, and housing.

The IIAS invites scholars from Israel and abroad to submit Research Group (RG) proposals for the 2027-2028 academic year. Research proposals may be submitted by initiator(s) affiliated with any academic institution in Israel or abroad. Proposals may cover any research topic from all disciplines including interdisciplinary research, and must seek to be innovative with potential impact on their research field.

The International Consortium for Research in the Humanities (IKGF) "Fate, Freedom, and Prognostication. Strategies for Coping with the Future in East Asia and Europe" at the Friedrich-Alexander University Erlangen-Nuremberg invites applications for fellowships.

We invite scholars from the broader field of Sinology who are working on issues related to our research focus "Fate, Freedom and Prognostication" and preferably those who are open to a comparative approach with an Asian-European perspective.

In the context of our current strategy debate, the call for the Sofja Kovalevskaja Award is under discussion. We are, therefore, unable to accept applications for a Sofja Kovalevskaja Award at present.

The Alexander von Humboldt Foundation’s Sofja Kovalevskaja Award, which is funded by the Federal Ministry of Education and Research, is granted to young exceptionally promising researchers from abroad in recognition of outstanding academic achievements.

This call is open to researchers who have a doctoral degree or at least four years’ full-time research experience by the time of the call deadline.

The three-month CSMCH-IASH Visiting Postdoctoral Fellowship in Modern and Contemporary History is intended to encourage outstanding early-career interdisciplinary research and scholarly collaboration in the broad field of modern and contemporary history. The fellow will be affiliated with the Centre for the Study of Modern and Contemporary History in the School of History, Classics and Archaeology and the Institute for Advanced Studies in the Humanities.

The EU-Japan Centre for Industrial Cooperation proposes a 6 month in-house fellowship scheme in Japan, designed to support its research and policy analysis of EU-Japan economic and industrial issues.

The Research Fellow will undertake research work on a selected priority topic of the Centre, which should result in a consistent policy report (70-100 pages), to be owned by the Centre.
