Peter Wall Institute for Advanced Studies International Visiting Research Scholar Program

The Peter Wall Institute for Advanced Studies is offering International Visiting Research Scholars (IVRS) awards of $15,000 to bring some of the world’s best scholars to UBC.

Exceptional scholars who have achieved the highest levels of distinction in their fields, and whose work has had a broad impact well beyond any one discipline are invited to spend time at UBC and the Peter Wall Institute. Ideal candidates will have demonstrated their commitment to working across disciplinary boundaries.

Schlesinger Library Research Grants on Women, Gender, and Sexuality

The Schlesinger Library invites scholars and other serious researchers at any career stage beyond graduate school to apply for support for their work in our collections. Grants of up to $3,000 will be given on a competitive basis. Applicants must have a doctoral degree or equivalent research and writing experience, and priority will be given to those who have demonstrated research productivity and whose projects require use of materials available only at the Schlesinger Library.

IASH Edinburgh Postdoctoral Fellowships

Applications are invited for postdoctoral bursaries from candidates in any area of the Arts, Humanities and Social Sciences.

Competition for IASH Postdoctoral Fellowships is intense. We also offer targeted postdoctoral opportunities in a number of disciplines, and early career applicants may prefer to apply for these. If an application to a specific postdoctoral scheme listed below is unsuccessful, it will then be considered as part of the general pool of Postdoctoral Fellowships:

Ernst Mach Grants for Research Stays in Austria

The Ernst Mach Grant program is named after the famous Austrian physicist and philosopher Ernst Mach (1838-1916). The grant program is financed by the Austrian Federal Ministry of Science, Research and Economy (BMWFW). Students and young researchers from foreign universities are invited to apply for this grant to come to Austria for a research or a study stay.

The Ernst Mach Grant worldwide is targeted at young researchers from all disciplines and countries (except Austria) who wish to pursue a research project in Austria.

The Princeton-Mellon Initiative in Architecture, Urbanism, and the Humanities is an interdisciplinary program supported by the Andrew W. Mellon Foundation that combines the efforts of a diverse group of faculty, programs, and schools to develop a dynamic understanding of urban issues past, present, and future.

University of Milan Federico Chabod Visiting Professorship in History

The Department of Historical Studies at the University of Milan proposes to elect three Federico Chabod Visiting Professors from overseas (one in medieval history, one in early modern history, one in modern and contemporary history) for one month in the period from the 11th February to 24th May 2019.

The program is named after Federico Chabod, one of the most distinguished Italian historians, who served at the University of Milan, and whose interests ranged from Renaissance to Contemporary age.

Babar Ali Fellowship on Pakistan

The Lakshmi Mittal and Family South Asia Institute is pleased to offer the Syed Babar Ali Fellowship to support recent PhDs in areas related to Pakistan. Priority will be given to candidates who demonstrate prior educational history that has taken place largely in Pakistan, and plan to return to Pakistan upon completion of the fellowship.
