Sciences Research Fellowships FOR FEMALE RESEARCHERS

Newnham College is proud to offer a number of Research Fellowships for outstanding female researchers early in their careers.

Our Fellowships offer an opportunity to carry out independent research in a stimulating and supportive academic community, to meet established researchers across a range of disciplines, and to take part in the life of Newnham College.

Stipends, for those without financial support from other sources, are:

Postdoctoral Fellow┋Restoration, ‘rewilding’ and prevention of further wildlife loss in Australia

  • Full time fixed term until 30 November 2025, located on the Camperdown Campus at the School of School of Life and Environmental Sciences
  • Opportunity to make valuable contributions to the reintroduction of species and future restoration efforts in urban Australia
  • Base Salary Level A $113,184 p.a. - $134,403 p.a. + 17% superannuation

NUFFIELD COLLEGE SOCIOLOGY VISITORSHIPS

The Nuffield College Sociology Group invites applications for a Visitorship at the College between January and June in 2025.

The scheme is open to established academics and others who wish to pursue their research in Oxford in the field of Sociology, broadly defined to include Sociology, Social Policy, and Demography. Please note that the scheme is not open to doctoral candidates or masters students.

Research grants in "Islamology"

The Ministry of Europe and Foreign Affairs (MEAE) and the UMIFRE network wish to support young researchers in Islamology by offering three-month field grants to Master’s students and six months field grants to the doctoral students/young doctors and wishing to pursue research in broadest sense in different regions of the world. Research on South Asia is particularly encouraged. Fellows will be hosted by member centers of the UMIFRE network and other research institutes partnering the program (see list of institutes concerned*).

IFRA-Nigeria Research Grant

IFRA-Nigeria is opening its call for 2026 Research Grants!

Open to master's student, doctoral students, postdoctoral and researchers working in humanities and social sciences on a country under IFRA-Nigeria's geographical mandate (Nigeria, Cameroon, Benin, Togo, Ghana, Liberia, Gambia, Niger, Chad and Burkina Faso). We accept applications in French or English.

Andreas Tietze Memorial Fellowship in Turkish Studies

Andreas Tietze (1914 - 2003) was a world-renowned Austrian Turcologist born and educated in Vienna. He started his career at Istanbul University, where he had taken refuge from the Hitler regime from 1938 to 1958, and at the University of California, Los Angeles, where he was emeritus professor of Turkish at the Department of Near Eastern Languages and Cultures from 1958 to 1971. After decades in Turkey and the United States, he finally returned to the University of Vienna in 1973 as a professor of Theology.

Hiob Ludolf Fellowships

The University of Erfurt is once again advertising Hiob Ludolf research grants for the Gotha collections in 2025, primarily in the Gotha Research Library. During their stay on site, the fellows will be affiliated to the academic institutions of the University of Erfurt in Gotha.

These are aimed at established national and international senior scholars who wish to spend a research stay of one to two months in Gotha. They receive reimbursement of travel and accommodation costs of up to € 1,500 per month.
