Postdoctoral Fellowships "Resilience and natural disasters"

The French Red Cross Foundation, a research organisation dedicated to humanitarian and social action, carries the will of the French Red Cross to commit to an effort of analysis with regard to suffering and ways of addressing it, anticipating the needs of vulnerable populations in France and in developing countries, and supporting new models for operations, training and capacity reinforcement. As such, it has decided to launch a call for applications for a postdoctoral fellowship on the topic of the prevention and management of natural risks and disasters.

Tom Watson Brown Book Award

The Society of Civil War Historians solicits nominations for the Tom Watson Brown Book Award for books published in 2025. Publishers are asked to send books, along with a cover letter nominating the work for the Tom Watson Brown Award, directly to the four prize jurors no later than January 31, 2026. Only books published in 2025 will be considered.

Friends of the UW-Madison Libraries┋Travel Grants for Scholars

The Friends’ Grants to Scholars program helps fund visiting scholars who have particular research needs in the University of Wisconsin-Madison Libraries. The Friends award several grants annually, bringing scholars to Madison campus libraries to conduct research in the humanities, sciences, and related fields appropriate to the libraries’ collection strengths. The purpose of this program is to foster high-level use of the University of Wisconsin–Madison Libraries’ rich holdings, and to make them better known and more accessible to a wider circle of scholars.

Jane Jacobs Urban Communication Book Award

ORIGIN 

The Jane Jacobs Urban Communication Book Award  is named in honor of the late social activist and author of The Death and Life of Great American Cities., Jane Jacobs. 

PURPOSE 

The annual Jane Jacobs Urban Communication Book Award recognizes an outstanding book, published in English, which exhibits excellence in addressing issues of urban communication. The book award brings with it a $500 prize.
