ANAMED, the Koç University Research Center for Anatolian Civilizations, housed in the historic Merkez Han on Istanbul’s Istiklal Street, was founded in 2005 to develop and facilitate research projects that are dedicated to the history, art, architecture and archaeology of civilizations in Türkiye. As the first local academic research center founded to support scientific research on the history of Anatolia, ANAMED carries out this mission through publications, exhibitions, symposia, and fellowships.

IFEA, was established as the French Archaeological Institute shortly after the French Embassy in Ankara applied to the Turkish Ministry of Foreign Affairs on 26 March 1930, upon the approval of the Ministry. The Institute was inaugurated on 1 October 1930 by Sébastien Charléty, rector of the Paris Academy, in the Tercüman Binası of the former French Embassy in Istanbul, built in 1874.

The Institute’s overall mission is to enable Turkish experts to work in France and French experts to work in Türkiye, and to promote research on Anatolia, either within its own organisation or in collaboration with other institutions, through scientific meetings such as panel discussions and international conferences, symposia, exhibitions and publications.
