Mellon Postdoc in Arab American and/or Muslim American Studies at Northwestern

Northwestern University seeks candidates for a two-year Mellon Postdoctoral Fellowship in Arab American and/or Muslim American Studies. Successful candidates will be appointed to the Asian American Studies Program, in collaboration with the Middle East and North African Studies Program (MENA). Areas of specialization are open but preference will be given to scholars in American studies, critical ethnic studies, cultural studies, gender studies, literary studies, and/or media studies. We seek a scholar whose research agenda is based in the United States but considers connections to other diasporic sites. Scholars whose expertise furthers connections with Northwestern’s ethnic studies programs, including its emergent Native and Indigenous Studies Program, are especially welcome. The successful candidate will be paired with a senior faculty mentor, offer two courses per year, and offer one public lecture per year.

This is a benefits eligible, full-time appointment with Mellon research funds, starting September 1, 2016. Ph.D. is required by the start of the appointment. Preference will be given to candidates who have demonstrated experience working with diverse student communities.
