Postdoctoral Fellowship in Judaic Studies at Virginia Tech
The Department of Religion and Culture (www.liberalarts.vt.edu/rlcl) at Virginia Tech seeks applications for a postdoctoral fellow in Judaic Studies. The initial appointment is for one year, but the fellow is eligible for reappointment for another year, subject to departmental approval. Research specialization is open but preference given to candidates whose work broadly intersects with other research strengths within the department. The qualified candidate will be expected to teach 3 courses per year, including the introductory course on Jewish History and Culture and either the course on the Holocaust or the Hebrew Bible. In addition to advancing an active research program, the successful candidate will be responsible for arranging special events supported by the Judaic Studies endowment and contributing to the intellectual life of the department, the university, and/or the local community. Ph.D. or evidence of completion by August 2018 required.
Required Qualifications
- PhD by time of appointment in Humanities or Social Sciences, with research specialty related to Judaic Studies
- Ability to teach introductory and upper-level Judaic Studies courses
- Ability and willingness to work collaboratively with faculty from a variety of disciplines
- Commitment to work effectively with diverse campus populations
