Yale MacMillan Center Postdoctoral Fellowship in African Studies

The Council on African Studies at the Whitney and Betty MacMillan Center for International and Area Studies at Yale University invites applications for a two-year post-doctoral fellowship, commencing for the 2020 -2021 academic year. Reappointment for the second year will be subject to satisfactory evaluation of the first year performance in the postdoctoral position. Candidates must have research and teaching experience related to contemporary Africa. The fellowship is open to all disciplines in the Social Sciences and Humanities, particularly Anthropology, History, Economics, Political Science, Sociology, and Women and Gender Studies.

Post-doctoral associates are expected to teach one course each semester while pursuing independent research and assisting the chair in curating the programmatic/scholarly activities of the Council. The academic appointment will be based in the Council on African Studies at the MacMillan Center (https://macmillan.yale.edu/). Post-doctoral Associates are expected to be in residence while classes are in session from August through May and participate in Council programming.

Qualifications

Applicants should have in-depth knowledge of at least one Africa-related language, be fluent in English and must have completed the Ph.D. within two years of September 2019.
