We support Ukrainian scholars – even during wartime

In the face of Russian aggression, continuing academic work in Ukraine is not only an act of determination, but also a crucial factor in maintaining the continuity of scientific research in the region. Support for Ukrainian researchers has never been more important – it enables the development of science under extreme conditions, helps prevent the interruption of research projects, and strengthens international academic cooperation. It is also a meaningful gesture of solidarity with Ukraine’s academic community.

The “Research in Ukraine” Scholarship Programme

The Mieroszewski Centre runs the “Research in Ukraine” Scholarship Programme, aimed at Ukrainian citizens who, despite the ongoing war, continue their research work within the country. The programme supports academic projects in the fields of history, culture, social sciences, and broadly understood humanities, with a particular focus on Polish-Ukrainian relations and the challenges faced by the Eastern European region.

To apply, candidates must submit a detailed research plan, letters of recommendation, and documented academic achievements. Applications are evaluated based on scholarly merit and research potential.

Why is it worth applying?

The programme’s goal is not only to support individual researchers, but also to strengthen the position of Ukrainian academic institutions within the international research community. Through this scholarship, Ukrainian scholars can carry out projects that deepen our understanding of Eastern Europe, analyze the consequences of war, and bring fresh perspectives to the global academic discourse.
