This European project exploits and promotes a comprehensive, co-developed, tested and widely consulted ethics framework that enables a more effective handling of the ethical dimension of innovation, in particular regarding new modes of interaction and novel participation configurations, for the benefit of more relevant, fair and effective innovation activities.

The candidate will lead the elaboration of an ethics framework with principles, guidelines, assessment criteria, good practice and proposals on regulatory environments on how citizens’ engagement can be properly put in place without disregarding ethical principles of fairness, transparency, gender, privacy and sustainability.

This will be done through iterative discourse and learning loops together with eight participating research funding organisations (RFOs), five expert partners and two international organisations.

Ideally trained in ethics and law (it is a plus) the candidate will lead the work to build the ethical framework that will be applied, tested and validated in real life through 11 practical cases and experimental pilots implemented by the Research Funding Organizations in three different action fields (i.e. project funding; strategy development and evaluation).

The draft ethics framework will also propose a set of criteria to assess the ethical stance of novel interaction modes in innovation activities. The candidate will lead the systematization of the theoretical work, the mapping of the existing practices and the preparation of the case studies.

PRO-Ethics will have an European-wide outreach, nevertheless, it will incorporate and compare local conditions and other specific and cultural characteristics of the partnering RFOs from Austria, Czech Republic, Germany, Lithuania, Norway, Romania, Spain and Brussels implementing the PRO-Ethics cases and pilots.
