Tel Aviv University Dean’s Distinction Post-Doctoral Fellowships Program in the Humanities

In the academic year of 2019-2020, The Lester and Sally Entin Faculty of Humanities, Tel Aviv University, will award four post-doctoral fellowships of $32,000 each to distinguished scholars in all relevant fields of the humanities. One fellowship will be awarded in each of the following schools:

• The Shirley and Leslie Porter School of Cultural Studies
• The Chaim Rosenberg School of Jewish Studies and Archaeology
• The School of Philosophy, Linguistics and Science Studies
• The Zvi Yavetz School of Historical Studies

Candidates for the post-doctoral fellowships must submit a letter from a faculty member willing to serve as sponsor that explains the way in which the candidate will be actively involved in the current research activities of the faculty member and his/her graduate students. The candidacy will be considered within the school to which the faculty member belongs.

To be eligible, candidates must have received their PhD at an accredited institution of higher learning no earlier than 1 October 2014 and no later than 1 October 2019. Holders of PhD degrees from Tel Aviv University are not eligible for this fellowship.

Candidates are requested to submit documents affirming the award of the PhD, three letters of reference from experts in their fields, a curriculum vita, a writing sample, a description of the work to be undertaken as a post-doctoral fellow and an endorsement from the faculty member with whom they will be working.

Recipients of the fellowship will be associated with the corresponding school in the faculty and will report directly to the head of the school. They are expected to reside in the Tel Aviv area during the entire period of the fellowship and participate in the school’s seminar and activities as stipulated by the school’s head. They will also be allowed to teach a seminar for advanced students in the faculty in the field of their specialty.
