Homerton College

Founded in London in 1768, Homerton moved to Cambridge just before 1900. Once an academy for the Nonconformist Church, then a renowned teacher-training college, Homerton has been, since 2010, a full College of the University of Cambridge, offering a full range of academic subjects.

As the newest Cambridge College, we get to do things a little differently while still bringing 250 years of our own distinctive history to the task. Our first address, in 1768, was in Homerton High Street in London, and since then we’ve been able to adapt constantly as the needs of our world have changed.

Homerton is one of the most attractive Colleges in Cambridge, with a mixture of old and new buildings set in spacious wooded grounds away from the noisy centre of town. It is also the largest College in terms of student numbers, with a thriving and diverse community.

All of its student accommodation has been either rebuilt or refurbished to a very high standard within the last ten years; it now boasts more en-suite rooms with internet connections than any other College in Cambridge. Our library is modern, well-stocked, and a light and airy place to work.

You can dine in a splendid gothic hall built in 1890, play football on our football field (and hockey, rugby etc.), have a snack or a drink in our Griffin bar and buttery, or just wander through the orchard. Homerton has a thriving Students’ Union (JCR for undergraduates and MCR for postgrads) offering many different sports clubs and societies for music, drama, or indeed anything you fancy.
