Mountains as Sentinels of Change

Mountains as Sentinels of Change

This call aims at fostering research on climate, environmental and related societal change in mountain regions, considering both new measurements, recovery of existing data, and the development and use of integrated modelling strategies by adopting a strong trans- and inter-disciplinary approach.

Five main themes have been identified, the  last two of which specifically adress  societal challenges: "Hazard, vulnerability and risks", and "adaptation and resilience."

Climate Services Collaborative Research Action

Aim of the call

This call aims to contribute to the overall challenge of developing climate services with a focus on interregional linkages role in climate variability and predictability.

The development of inter and transdisciplinary collaborations is encouraged, involving natural and social scientists to work with various type of users. Overall, an important target of this call is to provide results that can serve at different spatial scales and can be easily transferrable to emerging regional climate services.

Europe and Global Challenges

The funding initiative entitled "Europe and Global Challenges" was set up to provide support for research projects predominantly in the humanities and the social sciences. It is required that, beside European scholars, the project involves researchers from at least one other region of the world.

Partner University Fund

Established in 2007 as a collaboration between the French government, American private donors and the FACE Foundation, the Partner University Fund (PUF) is dedicated to amplifying the potential of the brightest French and American scholars by supporting educational and research partnerships between higher education institutions in both countries.

Applicants are expected to develop new or deepened partnerships through intense collaboration.

Call for nominations: Anneliese Maier Research Award

Nominations for the research award can be made for researchers from abroad from the fields of the humanities and social sciences whose scientific achievements have been internationally recognised in their research area and from whose research collaboration with specialist colleagues in Germany a sustainable contribution is expected towards the further internationalisation of the humanities and social sciences in Germany.

Climate services market research

Specific Challenge

Climate services are a specialised field, but have the potential to evolve into a promising market, able to scale up the cost-effectiveness of climate change adaptation and mitigation in Europe and beyond. To enable the growth of the climate services market, there is a need to better understand the nature and scope of both the demand and supply sides, and to assess constraints and opportunities, so as to identify the untapped potentials and enabling conditions for market development in Europe.
