Le sud-ouest de l'océan Indien (SOOI) est un point chaud d'endémisme et de biodiversité reconnu mondialement. Il abrite de nombreuses aires marines protégées (AMP) spatialement fragmentées, qui sont essentielles au maintien des écosystèmes marins. Un élément crucial, qui nécessite une étude plus approfondie, est la connectivité écologique, souvent mise en avant dans la conception des AMP et garante du succès de la conservation.
