Transformational Knowledge on Democracies under Change┋Transdisciplinary Perspectives

This funding programme addresses transformation processes of democracies in times of multiple challenges and their social impact. Researchers and actors outside of academia work together to identify scientific questions, work on them and develop recommendations for action for relevant stakeholder groups in politics, business or civil society based on the research results.

Prize contests will be launched in the first quarter of 2025 and remain open until the second quarter of 2025.

NATIONAL GEOGRAPHIC SOCIETY RESEARCH GRANTS┋LEVEL 2

The National Geographic Society, in partnership with the Conrad Hilton Foundation’s Safe Water Initiative, invites proposals from storytellers to create and disseminate content that raises public awareness about sustainable freshwater use. This initiative seeks to illuminate global freshwater challenges, particularly in sub-Saharan Africa, North Africa, Western Asia, and the Middle East. Projects can take various forms, including photography, film, and data visualization.

Fundable projects

Funding will again be provided for research projects that actively involve school students and, if applicable, other Citizen Scientists in the research process.

Additional funding

With additional funding, special emphasis will be placed on the formation of science school focus, the involvement of peripheral or previously unreached or hardly reached schools in Austria, and the development of citizen science know-how through international networking.
