U.S.-Japan Program Postdoctoral Fellowships

For Harvard and non-Harvard postdoctoral scholars.

A few postdoctoral fellowships are offered each year by the Program on US-Japan Relations for the study of issues in US-Japan relations, Japan's relations with other countries, and domestic issues that bear on Japan’s international behavior.

Awards and Benefits

The stipend is $66,000, and the Postdoctoral Fellows are offered shared office space at the Center and access to Harvard facilities.

Morgan-Menil Fellowship

The Drawing Institute and the Menil Drawing Institute, Houston, will award one fellowship of four to six months to support research projects on some aspect of the history, theory, interpretation, or cultural meaning of drawing throughout the history of art. Preference will be given to projects that would benefit from the resources of the Morgan Library & Museum and the Menil Collection.

Postdoctoral Position at the Berlin Graduate School Muslim Cultures and Societies (Frei Universität)

The Berlin Graduate School Muslim Cultures and Societies investigates the plurality, changeability, and global connectedness of Muslim cultures and societies. The area of study includes Muslim societies in the Middle East, Africa, and Asia, as well as Muslim communities in Europe and North America. Our researchers examine, in a systematic and comparative way, concepts, practices, and institutions variously understood as Islamic.

USC Society of Fellows in the Humanities Postdoctoral Fellowships

Each year the Society admits five postdoctoral fellows, who are appointed for two-year terms. The fellows pursue research and teach three courses over four semesters, with one semester for full-time research. They are expected to reside in the Los Angeles area during the academic year and to participate in the scholarly life of the Society, the host department, and the university.

Robert and Lisa Sainsbury Fellowships

The Robert and Lisa Sainsbury Fellowships, established in 2000 through generous funding from Lord Sainsbury of Turville, are designed to strengthen academic ties with Japanese studies programmes across Asia, Europe, Oceania and North America. The Fellowships provide recipients with an invaluable opportunity to work in a scholarly environment, ideal for advancing publication projects.

Keyman Modern Turkish Studies Postdoctoral Fellowship at Northwestern

The Keyman Modern Turkish Studies Program at the Buffett Institute for Global Affairs at Northwestern University invites applications for a two-year postdoctoral fellowship in the study of Turkey and its diasporas in a global or a comparative perspective. We welcome and encourage applications from early career scholars whose work focuses on nondominant and underrepresented groups including but not limited to religious, ethnic, and LBGTQ minorities and otherwise marginalized groups. Scholars in all branches of the Social Sciences and Humanities may apply.
