Aarhus Institute of Advanced Studies (AIAS) is pleased to announce up to 10 AIAS-AUFF Fellowships. The AIAS-AUFF Fellowships are available for curiosity-driven, talented researchers from all over the world and within all research disciplines. Fellowships last for 23 months starting on 1 September 2024.

Why apply for an AIAS-AUFF Fellowship

AIAS is a haven for intellectual exploration that proudly hosts excellent researchers who are eager to conduct and develop their research in an interdisciplinary, international and collaborative research environment. AIAS rests upon the foundation principles of interdisciplinary pursuit, fostering global collaborations and nurturing an environment where innovative breakthroughs emerge through transparent and reflective discourses by providing a space for engagement, collaboration and creativity.

Who can apply for an AIAS-AUFF Fellowship

The call is open to curiosity-driven researchers:

  • of any nationality and from all disciplines
  • with a career experience of 2-10 years after completion of the Ph.D. (counted from the date on the Ph.D. diploma and to the time of the application deadline)
  • who comply with a mobility demand:
    applicants must not have resided or carried out their main activity (work etc.) for more than 12 months in Denmark in the two years immediately prior to the deadline of the call

The fellowship includes

Fellows are offered:

  • a salary based on seniority (employment conditions and wages are regulated through the Danish collective union agreements)
  • a fellowship for 23 month (commencing on 1 September 2024)
  • relocation travel costs covered 
  • relocation assistance.

Fellows will have office space at AIAS and can participate in the academic training activities, conferences and workshops at AIAS. They will also be affiliated with the relevant research environments at Aarhus University.

After the application deadline, applications will be subject to an eligibility screening. A review and selection panel will evaluate each eligible proposal and make the final selection. 

Timeline of the application process

  • Opening of call: 10 November 2023.
  • Deadline for applications 1 February 2024 at 12.00 (noon) CET.
  • Evaluation and selection period: February-March 2024.
  • Applicants will receive answers: April 2024.
  • Fellowships begin: 1 September 2024.
