Grants for the incorporation of postdoctoral research staff into the Catalan science and technology system (Beatriu de Pinós programme)
The purpose of the Beatriu de Pinós programme is to award individual grants for the employment and incorporation of postdoctoral research staff into the Catalan science and technology system.
Who?
All universities, research centres and hospital foundations located in Catalonia can benefit from this grant. Technology centres, technological activity support centres and technology dissemination centres are all excluded from this call.
2019 call
It is resolved as follows:
To open the call for the awarding of a maximum of 60 grants, on a competitive basis, for the incorporation of postdoctoral research staff into the Catalan science and technology system within the Beatriu de Pinós programme (BP 2018).
Funding
This call is funded by the Directorate General for Research (DGR) of the Ministry of Business and Knowledge (EMC) and the European Union. The overall sum is €8,658,000.00. Of this sum total, €5,161,500.00 will come from headings 449.0001 i 480.0001 from the AGAUR budget for 2019, 2020 and 2021. The remaining sum, €3,496,500.00, is provided by the European Union via the Marie Skłodowska-Curie Actions COFUND programme, which is part of the “Horizon 2020” research and innovation funding programme.
Candidates must have obtained their doctorate between 1 January 2011 and 31 December 2016 (the date of the doctorate is regarded as the date of the defence and approval of the thesis).
The period for obtaining the doctorate can be from 1 January 2009 to 31 December 2016 if any of the following circumstances can be demonstrated as arising during said period:
- Have benefitted from a period of maternity or paternity leave.
- Have been responsible for children under six years of age, persons with a physical or mental disability or sensory impairment, or persons aged over sixty-five years of age who depend upon the beneficiary and who require special care.
- Have suffered a serious illness or an accident resulting in medical leave of more than six months.
- Be a researcher with recognised refugee status according to the 1951 Refugee Convention.
In this call, the Beatriu de Pinós programme is co-financed by the European Union via the Marie Skłodowska-Curie Actions COFUND programme (contract no. 801370) for transnational programmes of excellence for hiring researchers from the “Horizon 2020” research and innovation funding programme.
With this call's European co-financing via the COFUND programme, researchers hired using this grant will be regarded as “MSCA fellows”.
The contracts covered by this grant must have a term of three years.
The grant beneficiary institutions must hire the candidate and formalise the contract in accordance with applicable regulations within the period from the publication of the award resolution on the Government of Catalonia's e-noticeboard (https://seu.gencat.cat/ca/informacio-publica.html) and 1 February 2020.
The amount of the grant for the hiring of research staff is 132,300.00 (one hundred and thirty-two thousand, three hundred) euros. This sum finances the cost of each contract over the course of the time stated in this call for grants, and includes the remuneration to be received by the research staff and employer’s social security contributions.
The grants awarded shall be subject to the tax regulations applicable at the time of their award.
The amount of the complimentary grant is 12,000.00 (twelve thousand) euros.
If any partial withdrawal occurs entailing the justification of a contract term of less than 18 months, the maximum justifiable amount of the complementary grant shall be 6,000.00 (six thousand) euros.
