The MacMillan Center International Book Prizes
The MacMillan Center awards two prizes annually for books written in English on international topics, named for two former directors of the center. Each year, the Gustav Ranis International Book Prize is awarded for the best book by a Yale ladder faculty member, and the Gaddis Smith International Book Prize is awarded for the best first book by a Yale ladder faculty member. Award recipients receive a research appointment at the MacMillan Center and $5,000 in research funds.
Books published in 2023 will be eligible for consideration in this year’s competition. To nominate a book, please fill out this form(link is external) and send one copy, along with a note indicating the prize for which it is being submitted, to the MacMillan Center, Book Prize Nominations, Director’s Suite, Attn. Richard Sosa, Henry R. Luce Hall, 34 Hillhouse Avenue. The deadline for submissions is Wednesday, March 27, 2024.
Each faculty who submits will receive an email from the MacMillan Center confirming receipt of their book; if you have not received an email by March 27, please contact richard.sosa@yale.edu(link sends e-mail).
