Gonda Fund Funding for a Project or Publication in Indology
The J. Gonda Fund Foundation supports the scholarly study of Sanskrit, other classical Indian languages and literatures, and Indian cultural history.
Since 1992, the Foundation has funded projects, fellowships and scholarly publications and re-issues of existing works. It also organises and publishes the annual Gonda Lecture. The Foundation’s assets consist of the estate of Indologist Jan Gonda, who was a member of the Academy.

Who is it for?
The J. Gonda Fund Foundation supports students, researchers and publishers involved in the study of Sanskrit, other classical Indian languages, and Indian literature and cultural history.
How to apply?
The deadlines for all applications are 1 April and 1 October of every year. Decisions are announced roughly two months thereafter to the applicant.
Funding request project or publication
Applications for funding of a project or publication by researchers or scientific publishers may be submitted by e-mail to the board of the J. Gonda Fund. Your application should provide information about:
- The objectives and expected results.
- The starting date and duration of the project.
- The budget and requested funding.
- The reasons for your application at the Gonda Fund.
- The connection of the project or publication with Indology in the Netherlands.
