As part of the Call for research projects - Addictive Behaviour and Drugs (CAD): Prevention, Mechanisms, Identification and Support, jointly managed by the National Cancer Institute (INCa) and the Institute for Public Health Research (IReSP), the team led by Eric Breton from EHESP (RSMS team at the Arènes research unit) in conjunction with Clotilde Couderc, Head of Research and Scientific Documentation at Association Addictions France, has been awarded 4-year funding to conduct the PATTERN 3 (Prevention of Addiction and Intergenerational Transmission – part 3) interventional research project.
This research will establish the effectiveness of the ‘Une affaire de famille !’ (A Family Affair!) programme aimed at preventing the intergenerational transmission of addictive behaviours. Rolled out by Addictions France in several French regions, this programme is aimed at adults living in families with functional problems. The study will also document the programme's implementation system, guide its scaling up and prepare a component dedicated to evaluating the programme in prisons.

- - Ensure that there is a sufficient stream of participants for the study
- - Ensure that the system complies with regulatory requirements on research ethics.
Task 3: Deploy and monitor data collection and produce results
- Pre-test and put online the various data collection tools

- As part of the process evaluation, conduct semi-structured interviews with the facilitators of the ‘Une affaire de famille!’ programme
- As part of the PATTERN 3 component for incarcerated programme participants, conduct semi-structured interviews with the facilitators of ‘Une affaire de famille!’ and prison officials.
