Postdoc specializing in Digital Philology (m/f/x)

Your tasks and responsibilities:

  • Conducting independent research in the field of Medieval Latin Philology
  • Contributing to the development of new research projects (external funding/grant proposals)
  • Teaching, generally with a course load of 5 hours per week per semester (5 SWS)

Your qualifications:

  • completed PhD in Latin Philology (with a focus on Medieval Latin not yet required) or in Medieval Studies (with a strong command of Latin). The doctoral procedure must be completed by the start of employment.
  • excellent English language skills; proficiency in German (or at least a willingness to learn the language)
  • Specialization in Digital Humanities (e.g., network analysis, digital editing, text analysis, relational or graph-based data models [e.g., Neo4j])
  • strong communication skills and the ability to work effectively in a team

Additional desirable qualifications:

  • initial experience in securing third party funding
  • Teaching experience and pedagogical skills
  • basic knowledge of medieval manuscript transmission

Remuneration is based on the E 13 TV-L salary scale. You will enjoy all the benefits of employment in the public service of the Free State of Bavaria.
