Aigner-Rollett Visiting Professorship for Gender Research

In the winter semester 2027/2028 the visiting professorship will be situated within the literary and cultural gender studies. The professorship should focus on the nexus of “posthumanism and gender” and place emphasis on the theoretical paradigm of critical posthumanism and/or Anthropocene research.

The Aigner-Rollett Visiting Professorship includes a teaching load of 6 hours per week in the field of gender studies/gender research with the focus mentioned above. Two of the six hours should be in the form of a general overview lecture in the area specified above. Participation in the doctoral programmes/doctoral forums “Interdisciplinary Gender Studies” and “Transformations of the Human” is also expected.

The successful candidate will have demonstrated prior research engagement and expertise in gender studies with the focus mentioned above, with a record of publications and teaching experience in this area.

Employment Requirements

• Austrian or equivalent foreign higher education degree corresponding with the position (doctorate/PhD)
• Habilitation or equivalent qualification in Gender Studies and/or in Modern German Literature and/or General and Comparative Literature
• Outstanding academic qualifications in research and teaching in the relevant discipline (commensurate with stage of academic career and interruptions in employment due to caring responsibilities)
• Skills in higher education didactics including the use of digital media
• Gender mainstreaming and diversity management skills
• Skills in attracting subject-specific project grants (preferable)
• Professional experience abroad during academic career

He/she will have demonstrated ability to collaborate constructively in a responsible manner and inspire colleagues and students in an interdisciplinary, internationally oriented context.

A salary in excess of the minimum salary as stated in the collective agreement will be offered in the amount of € 36,163  gross/total for the duration of employment.
