Innovational Research Incentives Scheme Veni - Social Sciences and Humanities

The Innovational Research Incentives Scheme offers personal grants to talented, creative researchers. The funding enables applicants to do their own line of research. This boosts innovative research and promotes mobility within scientific research institutes.

The Innovational Research Incentives Scheme comprises three grants geared to different stages in a researcher’s scientific career:

NERC Independent Research Fellowships (IRF) for Environmental Science

Due to an update to policy, applicants may only have one Fellowship application under consideration by UKRI. Applicants cannot submit applications to both NERC IRF and UKRI FLF rounds.

The NERC Independent Research Fellowship (IRF) scheme is designed to develop scientific leadership among the most promising early-career environmental scientists, by giving all fellows five years' support, which will allow them sufficient time to develop their research programmes and to gain international recognition.

Mandel Postdoctoral Fellowships in the Humanities and Jewish Studies

The Mandel Fellowships are intended for scholars, from Israel and abroad, who have shown exceptional excellence, depth, and originality, and whose research may enrich academic and cultural discourse.

Applications will be accepted from candidates who completed their doctoral degrees no earlier than October 1, 2015. Candidates who have not yet completed their degrees may apply if they have submitted their dissertations by September 15, 2019. If awarded the fellowship, their acceptance will be conditional upon completion of their doctoral degrees by April 1, 2020.
