The Center for Global Asia at NYU Shanghai is pleased to announce the availability of two research positions for the study of intra-Asian interactions, starting fall 2024. One position is for a postdoctoral fellow working on colonial or pre-colonial (c. 1400–1800) port cities of the Indian Ocean world, including the South China Sea.
Work duties
A postdoctoral fellow’s duties consist mainly of research, to apply for external research funding in the field, but also some administration. The position requires continuous attendance at the Centre, active participation in seminars, on-going presentation of the fellow’s own research and, where necessary, teaching and supervision of students corresponding to up to 20% of the position.
Eligibility requirements
The Institute of Advanced Studies is seeking to appoint four Junior Research Fellows (JRFs) on appointments of 24 months each. Candidates should have recently completed (within five years) a PhD in one of the subject areas of either the Faculty of Arts & Humanities or the Faculty of Social & Historical Sciences, and should be able to contribute to one of the following research themes: Laughter or Turbulence.

The Princeton Institute for International and Regional Studies (PIIRS) at Princeton University invites applications for a postdoctoral fellowship program for the 2018-19 year. Up to three 3-year postdoctoral fellowships will be awarded to exceptional recent Ph.D. recipients who are researching issues of global importance in the sciences and engineering, arts, humanities, and social sciences.
