The John W. Kluge Center at the Library of Congress invites qualified scholars to apply for a post-doctoral fellowship for advanced research based on the Alan Lomax Collection. The Lovelace Fellowship, established in 2015 for the study of the Alan Lomax Collection, pays tribute to the 60-year friendship between philanthropist Jon B. Lovelace and James H. Billington, who served as Librarian of Congress from 1987-2015.

Two (2) Joint Post-Doctoral Fellowships are offered for highly qualified, early career postdoctoral researchers. Each fellowship is awarded for 24 months, starting on October 1, 2018, and consists of two phases:

• Phase 1: 12 months of research at Freie Universität Berlin
• Phase 2: 12 months of research at the Hebrew University of Jerusalem

(or vice versa)

The Postdoctoral Fellows will conduct their research projects under the joint supervision of experienced researchers from Freie Universität and the Hebrew University.

The Centre for Advanced Studies "Justitia Amplificata: Rethinking Justice _ Appplied and Global", funded by the German Research Council (Deutsche Forschungsgemeinschaft, DFG) and located at the University of Frankfurt with a branch at the Free University of Berlin is seeking to appoint up to three post-doctoral fellows in political theory/political philosophy for the academic year 2019/2020. The Fellows will be hosted by Frankfurt University at its Institute for Advanced Studies in Bad Homburg (near Frankfurt) and will be part of the Frankfurt academic community.

Applications will not be accepted in 2022.

The Program in Jewish Studies at Rice University in Houston, Texas, invites applications for the Samuel W. and Goldye Marian Spain Postdoctoral Fellowship. The appointment will be for the academic year 2019-20, with renewal possible for 2020-21. Candidates must hold a PhD by July 1, 2019, and must have received it no earlier than 2014. Scholars from all fields of Jewish Studies will be considered, but the Program is particularly interested in scholars specializing in modern Jewish thought, non-European Jewish cultures and histories, migration and diaspora, and ethics.

The University of Tulsa’s Helmerich Center for American Research (HCAR) at Gilcrease Museum seeks applications for its first Duane H. King Post-Doctoral Fellow. The Research Center houses the Gilcrease Library and Archive containing more than 100,000 rare books, manuscripts, maps, photographs, and unpublished works. The collection dates back to the time of Columbus and details the Spanish arrival in the Americas, the New England colonies, the founding of democracy in the United States, and Anglo-Indian contact and conflict in the American West.

The UCLA Terasaki Center for Japanese Studies invites applications for a 1-year postdoctoral position every other academic year. The fellow will be expected to teach a one-quarter undergraduate course and present one public lecture while in residence, and to participate actively in Center colloquia and other public programs during the fellowship year. The Center welcomes applications from around the world.

The Newton International Fellowship (NIF) programme provides support for outstanding early career researchers to make a first step towards developing an independent research career through gaining experience across international borders. The fellowships enable researchers to access expertise, gain new perspectives and build long-lasting collaborative relationships.

This scheme is jointly run by the British Academy and the Royal Society.
