Researchers with long-term fellowships spend four to nine months immersed in the Newberry collection and in our community of learning. While pursuing significant works of scholarship, they make discoveries, present works in progress, and take their projects to the next level.

The Lady Davis Fellowship Trust was established 49 years ago in 1973 to provide an opportunity for Visiting Professors, Post-Doctoral Researchers and Doctoral Students from abroad, regardless of nationality, gender or field of scholarship to teach, study and participate in research in Israel at the Hebrew University in Jerusalem and at the Technion Institute of Technology in Haifa.

The Distinguished NIAS-Lorentz Fellowship (DNLF) is awarded annually to a leading researcher to work on innovative research that bridges the humanities and/or social sciences with the natural and/or technological sciences. Distinguished NIAS-Lorentz Fellows may be nominated by leading figures in the Dutch academic community. The NIAS-Lorentz Fellowship Board evaluates the DNLF nominations.

Fellows undertake a substantive and original project that relates to the ISM’s mission, which may include original scholarship, an art exhibition, a musical composition, or a work of creative writing. Fellows are full-time faculty or scholars with more than six years of experience following the terminal degree.
Candidates are eligible to apply as postdoctoral associates if they have fewer than six years of related experience following the terminal degree and are not yet employed as full-time regular faculty. Like long-term fellows, they undertake a substantive and original project that relates to the ISM’s mission.
In conjunction with the Rice Seminars, the Humanities Research Center at Rice University hosts yearlong residential fellowships for outstanding junio scholars. The Rice Seminars are designed to promote humanistic research, broadly understood. They bring together a select group of Rice faculty members, visiting faculty, and Rice graduate students to study a common theme from several disciplinary perspectives.
The Ho Center for Buddhist Studies at Stanford invites applications for a two-year postdoctoral fellowship. The Center will award one fellowship every two years.
MMCA Residency run by the National Museum of Modern and Contemporary Art, Korea (MMCA), is pleased to announce calls for the International Artist/Researcher Residency Program 2024.

In 2011, the University of Michigan joined in a collaborative partnership with the University of California to offer postdoctoral fellowship opportunities at the University of Michigan. In this program, the University of Michigan now offers postdoctoral research fellowships in science, technology, engineering, mathematics (STEM), economics, and political science, coupled with faculty mentoring, professional development, and academic networking opportunities.
