Fairbank Center’s Visiting Scholars program

Through our Visiting Scholars Program, the Fairbank Center hosts Visiting Scholars from universities throughout the world and Visiting Fellows of Practice with significant professional expertise to offer to our Chinese studies community. Visiting scholars and fellows come to the Center for one year to develop their research in various disciplines of Chinese studies. Visiting scholars and fellows engage with Harvard faculty, utilize the Harvard library collections and participate actively in Fairbank Center academic and community events.

Center for Chinese Studies Visiting Scholar Program

Since the 1950s, scholars in the Chinese Studies field from throughout the world have been in residence as Visiting Scholars at the Center for Chinese Studies (CCS). These honorary affiliates are chosen on the strength of their proposed research projects and the ability of the faculty or library resources on the Berkeley campus to meet their research needs. CCS scholars conduct comparative and area studies research in their field of study on the People's Republic of China, Taiwan, Hong Kong, and the Chinese diaspora in other countries.

RSM Visiting Scholars

The Institute for Rebooting Social Media (RSM) welcomes applications for its 2024-2025 cohort of Visiting Scholars. This interdisciplinary cohort will undertake original projects while engaging with RSM faculty, staff, scholars, fellows, students, and the broader Berkman Klein Center (BKC) and Harvard University communities and projects.

Neil Ker Memorial Fund

The object of this fund, established by the family and friends of Neil R Ker FBA, is to promote the study of Western medieval manuscripts, in particular those of British interest; that is enabling investigation of their production (including decoration), readership and use in particular.

The fund is not intended to support research visits to read manuscripts for their textual / historical or literary purposes.
