FELLOWSHIP APPLICATION FOR 2024-2025 -- Deadline: January 22, 2024.

L’IFAS-Recherche (UMIFRE 25, MEAE/CNRS, USR 3336 — Institut français d’Afrique du Sud) a une vocation régionale qui s’étend à douze pays d’Afrique australe et centrale : Afrique du Sud, Angola, Botswana, Congo, République démocratique du Congo, Eswatini, Lesotho, Malawi, Mozambique, Namibie, Zambie, Zimbabwe. Il encourage et soutient la recherche en sciences humaines et sociales portant sur un (ou plusieurs) pays de cette vaste aire géographique.

The Weiser Center for Emerging Democracies (WCED) at the University of Michigan invites scholars who have received their Ph.D. since 2021 to apply for a WCED Postdoctoral Fellowship. This two-year fellowship supports multidisciplinary research on the broad historical, political, economic, and societal conditions under which democracy and autocracy either emerge and endure or falter and fail. 

Typically the Center for Cultural Analysis will sponsor five fellowships for Rutgers faculty, five fellowships for Rutgers graduate students, and two Postdoctoral Associate positions for external scholars. All seminar participants will have access to the CCA’s resources and will be expected to participate in and to present their work during CCA seminars, which meet regularly throughout the academic year.

The Leon Levy Center for Biography offers four resident fellowships and one Sloan fellowship for a biography in science.  Awards include writing space at the CUNY Graduate Center, full access to research facilities, research assistance and a stipend of $72,000. The period of the residencies is September – May of each year.

The following information applies to applications for the 2024-25 cohort of postdoctoral fellows. The application cycle for this cohort will open on November 16, 2023 and will close on January 15, 2024.

The Digital Civil Society Lab brings promising new scholars to Stanford University for 1 year appointments (renewable once, for a total of two years) as postdoctoral fellows.

The Government of Ireland Postdoctoral Fellowship Programme is an established national initiative, funded by the Department of Further and Higher Education, Research, Innovation and Science, and managed by the Irish Research Council.

This programme aims to support suitably qualified applicants to pursue a postdoctoral fellowship at an eligible higher education institution in Ireland for either one or two years. Among its features are:

Deadline: Normally, the deadline for applications for the Smithsonian Libraries Resident Scholar Programs is January 15 for appointments during the following academic year (September 1 through August 31). Due to the COVID-19 pandemic, however, we currently are not hosting fellows onsite and not accepting applications for the 2023 academic year (September 1, 2022 – August 31, 2023).

The Guggenheim Fellowships are competitive three- to twelve-month in-residence fellowships for pre- or postdoctoral research in aviation and space history. Predoctoral applicants should have completed preliminary course work and examinations and be engaged in dissertation research. Postdoctoral applicants should have received their PhD within the past seven years. An annual stipend of $30,000 for predoctoral candidates and $45,000 for postdoctoral candidates will be awarded, with limited additional funds for travel and miscellaneous.
