Herzog Ernst Scholarships

For the year 2026, the University of Erfurt is once again offering Herzog-Ernst scholarships to research the Gotha collections, primarily in the Gotha Research Library.

During their time on site, scholarship holders will be linked to the research institutions of the University of Erfurt in Gotha.

Applicants are requested to enclose the following documents with their application:

Swiss Government Excellence Postdoctoral Scholarships for Foreign Scholars

Each year the Swiss Confederation awards Government Excellence Scholarships to promote international exchange and research cooperation between Switzerland and over 180 other countries. Recipients are selected by the awarding body, the Federal Commission for Scholarships for Foreign Students (FCS).

The Swiss Government Excellence Scholarships are aimed at young researchers from abroad who have completed a master’s degree or PhD and at foreign artists holding a bachelor’s degree.

EUI Florence┋Jean Monnet Postdoctoral Fellowships

The Robert Schuman Centre for Advanced Studies (RSC) offers one-year Jean Monnet Fellowships to scholars who have obtained their doctorate more than 5 years prior to the start of the fellowship, i.e. 1 September 2023 for the academic year 2023-24. The Fellowship programme is open to post-docs, tenure track academics and those wishing to spend their sabbatical at the RSC. We invite you to become part of a lively and creative academic community. The Centre offers up to 20 Fellowships a year.

Call for Memberships at Princeton IAS School of Historical Studies

The School of Historical Studies supports scholarship in all fields of historical research but is concerned principally with the history of western, near eastern and Asian civilizations, with particular emphasis upon the Greek and Roman world, the history of Europe (medieval, early modern, and modern), the Islamic world, East Asian studies, art history, history of science, and musicology. All selections are based on both external and internal review.
