Within the General Research Funding Programme of the Gerda Henkel Foundation, the focus lies on the Historical Humanities, in particular Archaeology, History, Historical Islamic Studies, Art History, History of Law, Prehistory and Early History, History of Science.
Applications from neighbouring disciplines are possible if the core research question is historically oriented.
The funding activities concentrate basically on German and foreign academics in the fields of historical humanities. Candidates can apply regardless of their nationality and place of work.
The most important criteria when deciding if a grant should be awarded are the academic significance and the quality of the research project. Also precise planning of costs and schedule of the proposed project are absolutely essential.

The David Wechsler Early Career Grant for Innovative Work in Cognition supports early career psychologists pursuing innovative work in neuropsychology, intelligence and/or the assessment aspects of cognition. Those who work on positive applied neuropsychology are encouraged to apply.
The grant is for up to $25,000.
The Holberg Prize is an international prize awarded annually for outstanding contributions to research in the humanities, social sciences, law and theology.
The Holberg Prize was established by the Norwegian Parliament in 2003 and is awarded annually to a scholar in the humanities, social sciences, law or theology. The Prize is worth NOK 6,000,000 (approximately EUR 530,000).
Anyone holding an academic position at a university, academy or other research institution may nominate candidates for the Holberg Prize.
Senior Fellowships are offered annually to academics, established scholars or senior museum professionals in the field of British art either to complete a manuscript or book for publication or to undertake a sustained period of research towards a major project.
They are designed to release Fellows from teaching and/or other employment responsibilities and provide them with a defined period to devote to writing or research.
The Fellowship is an award of £60,000 to cover a period of 12 months.
Research Support Grants are offered in the autumn and spring rounds to individuals already engaged in research involving the study of British art or architectural history or British visual culture.
A Research Support Grant is an award of up to £2,000 towards the expenses incurred in visiting collections, libraries, archives or historic sites within the United Kingdom or abroad for research purposes.
Mid-Career Fellowships are awarded annually to academics and scholars at universities, museums, galleries or other organisations who are established in their careers and who were awarded their doctorates over six years previously. Applications are also welcome from independent and freelance scholars, and from individuals who do not hold a doctorate, but all applicants must have a scholarly profile.
